The Art, Science and Black Magic of the Creative Pitch

September 28, 2016 @ 9:00 am - 4:00 pm

This isn’t a workshop on how to survive a presentation; It’s an interactive essay on what it takes to move an audience of five or 5,000. Through hands-on activities, discussions, modeling, and peer assessment, participants will learn (or reacquaint themselves with) the essential skills needed to craft a presentation that will inform, persuade, entertain, and inspire.

Participants will focus on skills including:
– Crafting a persuasive argument leveraging emotion and logic
– Researching audience
– Assigning presentation roles
– Developing a deck
– Public speaking
**JUST ADDED: Pitching effectively over the phone

A native Baltimorean, Matt McDermott’s been a fixture in the local advertising scene for over a decade, punctuated by a three year-stint teaching high school English in the city’s public school system. He teaches presentation techniques in a joint MBA/MA program offered by the Johns Hopkins Carey Business School and the Maryland Institute College of Art. His clients have included Comcast, the University of Baltimore, Johns Hopkins University, National Geographic, and Black & Decker.
