Carroll Hospital and Chase Brexton Health Care Projects Earn Awards from Mid-Atlantic Society for Healthcare Strategy and Market Development
BALTIMORE – (May 25, 2018) – Devaney & Associates, a full-service advertising, marketing, and public relations agency, received an Award of Excellence and an Award of Merit from the Mid-Atlantic Society for Healthcare Strategy and Market Development (MASHSMD). Covering Maryland, Virginia, and Pennsylvania, the MASHSMD Marketing Excellence Awards celebrate the most outstanding work in the healthcare marketing and public relations industry from 2017. The awards were announced at the MASHSMD 2018 Spring Conference Awards Luncheon in Richmond, VA.
The Hope Lives Here Fundraising Program for Chase Brexton Health Care, a federally qualified health center (FQHC) with locations in five of Maryland’s most underserved communities, was awarded a 2018 Award of Excellence for Community Relations. Because 88 percent of Chase Brexton patients are living at or below the 100 percent poverty level, this program was created to develop a steady stream of charitable donations—without relying on the traditional grateful patient fundraising model. This program was built completely from scratch and executed with zero advertising dollars behind it, and still managed to raise more than $32,000 in just the first five months, and secured its first major corporate donor, M&T Bank, with a $10,000 pledge. The benefits were immediate, with more than 221 patients receiving much-needed services—including medical and dental care; rent and utilities assistance; eyeglasses, groceries, and more—in CY2017, based solely on Hope Lives Here philanthropy.
The Annual Check Up Digital Campaign that Devaney & Associates created with Carroll Hospital, a LifeBridge Health center, was awarded a 2018 Award of Merit for Digital Advertising. The campaign sought to educate the community on a very simple—but often neglected—step to better health: getting an annual check-up. When research revealed that audiences were resistant due to misinformation and fear, Devaney & Associates blended relatable humor with hard-hitting facts to show that an annual check-up is simultaneously “no big deal” and a vital part of taking care of yourself. The digital components of this campaign brought in 4.7 million impressions and nearly 12,000 visits to the campaign’s landing page.
Entries for this competition are judged on a point scale. There were 14 Awards of Merit given for scoring 105+ points and only six Awards of Excellence for scoring 150+ points.
