MGH wins 2015 Best in Show; TBC, Inc. and Renegade Communications win Best of Category awards
BALTIMORE — (March 13, 2015) — Baltimore’s community of marketing professionals celebrated creative excellence in advertising last night at the 41st Annual Baltimore American Advertising Awards (formerly ADDY® Awards) Show, presented by Comcast Spotlight and hosted by the American Advertising Federation of Baltimore (AAFB) at the Sheraton North Baltimore in Towson.
More than 240 entries were submitted this year, resulting in 78 awards presented to local agencies, production houses and in-house marketing teams across 50 categories. The annual awards show was produced with a ‘Downton ADDY’ theme and many attendees donned 1920s dinner party attire to celebrate the accomplishments of their peers.
“Over the years the ADDY competition, now the American Advertising Awards, has provided a stage for agencies and advertisers to gain market and industry-wide recognition. In particular, the recognition for some of our newer Baltimore firms is invaluable. We’ve seen agencies actually born on this stage — it’s an incredible testament to the talent in the market and the importance of this competition,” said AAFB president Ariel Deitz, account executive, Millennial Media.
Top honors include:
- 2015 Best In Show presented to MGH for the OLD BAY 75th Campaign
- 2015 Comcast Spotlight Best Integrated Campaign presented to Renegade Communications for the One Love Campaign
- 2015 Special Judges Award / Best Design presented to TBC, Inc. for the Ventev Mobile App
A complete list of all winners is below.
As part of the annual awards ceremony, the AAFB also announced the recipients of its prestigious awards and annual scholarships:
- Silver Medal Awards were presented to Peter Gladstone, VP, Marketing for the Jacksonville Symphony and John Dearing, Director of Marketing, PANDORA Jewelry Americas, in recognition of their contributions and commitment to advertising in the Baltimore area. The Silver Medal Award is bestowed annually by AAF chapters throughout the country to outstanding members of their local advertising community.
- The Patricia Martin Crystal Prism Award was presented to integrated content producer Sandy Mislang. The Crystal Prism Award Program spotlights an individual who has made outstanding contributions to their advertising community through their local AAF chapter. The award acknowledges the individual’s commitment, contributions, and passion to further the industry’s standards and to enhance the image of advertising.
- College students Amelia Berninger, Monique Welch and Jordan Klumpp were announced as the AAFB’s 2014-2015 scholarship recipients. Candidates are evaluated on their academic achievements, volunteer contributions to community and representative samples of work in advertising related disciplines.
“We are especially excited to celebrate both present and future excellence in our field by honoring our annual award and college scholarship recipients. With so many great things happening in advertising, marketing and technology in Charm City, we are thrilled to continue to be able to support Baltimore’s creative minds and promote our thriving advertising economy,” added Deitz.
The American Advertising Awards competition is the industry’s largest and most representative competition — attracting more than 40,000 entries every year in local competitions. Gold winners at the local level automatically move on to the regional district two competition, competing with agencies from Maryland, Pennsylvania, New York, Delaware, Virginia and Washington, D.C. A win at the district level guarantees a spot in the National American Advertising Awards Competition. National winners will be announced at the AAF’s national conference, Admerica, taking place June 10-13 at Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas.
